PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Armfield Civic Center Dolphins finished the 2012 summer season with a fourth-place finish at the Tri-County Swimming finals in Pilot Mountain on Saturday. The Dolphins coached by Grant Simmons, Leah Tunstall and Ashley Horn finished the seven-team meet with 642 total points.


The Dolphins had several individuals who captured overall medals including Avery Tucker, placing first overall in the 10 and Under Girls division; Julie Hicks took second overall; and Hadly Tucker finished fifth overall. In the 12 and Under Girls, Sydney Beck finished first, and Mikayla Custer finished fourth. For the 14 and Under Girls division, Armfield’s Ashley Hicks captured first overall, while teammate Kelsey Tunstall tied for third overall. Katherine Martin took fifth place overall in the 18 and Under Girls division, while Christopher Holshouser claimed fourth place in the 18 and Under Boys division for the Dolphins.


Armfield also earned several honors in relay events including the 10 and Under Girls 100 Yard Freestyle team of Julie Hicks, Gracie Pruitt, Hadly Tucker and Avery Tucker capturing a gold medal. The 10 and Under Girls 100 Yard Medley team consisting of Hicks, Pruitt, Avery Tucker and Alyssa Custer earned gold as well.


The Dolphins team of Sydney Beck, Olivia Dunning, Mikayla Custer and Anne-Louise Tunstall finished with a silver medal in the 12 and Under Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Relay along with a silver medal in the 12 and Under Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay.


In the 14 and Under Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the duo of Ashley Hicks and Kelsey Tunstall earned a silver medal while capturing a gold medal in the 14 and Under Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay. In addition, the Dolphins trio of Katelynn Custer, Katherine Martin and Kayla Simmons took bronze in the 18 and Under Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay.


The Long Creek Stingrays captured their 10th consecutive overall championship with 1,650 points, while the Chadwyck Flyers finished second with 927 points. The Kernersville Riptyde took third place with a total of 647.5 points.
