HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE

For more than 40 years, The Pilot has served the people of Eastern Surry County and Western Stokes County, reflecting the happenings around the town of Pilot Mountain and serving as their primary source of news, as well as a guide to satisfy the community’s appetite for goods and services through advertising of local merchants.

The Pilot, while having a few owners over the past, is a sister paper to The Mount Airy News, Elkin Tribune, Yadkin Ripple, Carroll News and Jefferson Post, and is part of the more than 50 newspapers owned by Heartland Publications.
