On Oct. 11, the women of Poplar Springs Baptist Church sponsored a Women’s Conference called “New Visions.” The guest speaker was Patricia Edwards. She is from western North Carolina. She was a good speaker and shared many thoughts with the women.
I was invited to attend, so I am going to share some of her ideas and thoughts. Sometimes she was humorous, too.
“When that man was praying for me, he looked at me so hard I thought he could see my sins!”
“The minute you settle for less than you deserve, that’s when you get less than you settle for.”
She talked about Martha and Mary when Jesus was visiting in their home. She labeled Martha with a type A personality, and urged us not to be “show-offs.” “Don’t let it be all about ME.”
Remember, she continued, “Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
She urged us to do the work Jesus would want us to do. And stated that Peter walked on water because he got out of the boat.
The Baptist church had “Pastor Appreciation Day” on Sunday honoring the Rev. Bill Faw.
Please remember the family of Decie Bowman. She died recently at the Hospice Home in Dobson.
Several folks are on our prayer list at church: Ronald Bowman, Don Fulk, Billy, Mary, Ethel, Robert, Carol, Hunter and Karen. Please remember these folks.
The Brotherhood from church went to Betty Matthews’ house and did some work for her. She was very appreciative.
Remember: Life is simple, life is good, if you’re living the way you should. (Heard this on the radio.)
