There’ll be something for the young and the young-at-heart of all ages on Saturday as Jessup Grove Baptist Church hosts its first Easter Egg-Stravaganza from 3-6 p.m. at the church, located at 896 Jessup Grove Church Road in Pilot Mountain.

“We weren’t aware of a community event like this for our area,” noted church representative Ricky Palmer, “and we saw this as a great opportunity for community involvement.”

Featured activities will include an egg hunt, and a bounce house along with hot dogs, chips and desserts for all. All children will also be given a candy bag. The event and all activities are free.

A highlight of the day will be the debut performance of the church’s new puppet ministry.

“We’ve been working on it but this will be the first time we’ve done the puppet ministry in front of others,” Palmer explained. “It will have an Easter theme. We want to show what Easter is about, that it’s more than candy and an Easter bunny.”

In the event of rain, all activities will be cancelled.

“We want to invite everybody to come out and join us, to relax and enjoy the afternoon as we celebrate Easter,” Palmer said. “This is the first time we’ve done something like this on this scale and we’re all excited and looking forward to it. We know we’ll get a blessing and we want to be a blessing to our community.”
